Motorola brings the MOTOLUXE to Canada

Motorola is still all about bringing its devices to as many countries as possible, and that is something that we have grown to love. Next up on their list is a Canadian release of the MOTOLUXE,  the 4-inch widget heavy device that we first got our hands-on back at CES.

“With its stylish design and media features, MOTOLUXE is the perfect smartphone to complement our busy lives,” said David Petrou, sales director, Motorola Mobility Canada. “Not only does MOTOLUXE have the power of Android, it also has a fun, adaptive and easy-to-use user interface, a big vibrant screen and a sharp camera to help you capture your everyday life.”

Cyberpunks Rejoice: Kickstarter Project Aims To Resurrect Shadowrun

If you spent any time in high school thinking about ley lines and bio-implants, you were probably a Shadowrun player. The game, which petered out after a disastrous run as a PC/Xbox game in 2007, brought the high-tech of William Gibson to the magical realms of Mr. Gygax. It was, in short, pretty cool. A Kickstarter project aims to bring back all that fun in video game form, adding lots of what you missed about Shadowrun back to the PC. This new version will be a RPG involving the Shadowrun world complete with various character types - elves, samurai, humans - and, although this is discouraged, deals with dragons. $15 gets you a copy of the game while $60 gets you a t-shirt and some in-game perks.

Patrick Dempsey Helps Rescue Teen From Overturned Vehicle

Sometimes life imitates art, or something like that.

Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey channeled his inner Dr. McDreamy this week when he helped rescue a teenager who careened off the road and overturned his car completely near the actor's property in Malibu, Calif.

The car had rolled repeatedly and was totaled.

Dempsey reportedly ran toward the car with crowbar in hand so he could pry the driver out of the wrecked Mustang, and was successful.

A neighbor called 911 and the police came, with paramedics treating the crash victim for a concussion, and stunningly nothing worse.

Patrick, of course, never mentioned any of this. No word who the kid who crashed is, but Shawn Ryan, the creator of The Shield, tweeted:

"True Story: Grey's Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey pulled my friend's son out of an overturned car after bad accident on Tuesday. #GoodDude"

Thank about an #understatement.

Miley Cyrus Urges America: Feed the Hungry!

Miley Cyrus has recorded a new Public Service Announced on behalf of Feeding America.

In the spot, the actress/singer takes on the role of Rickey, a former member of the Army Reserve who is trying to start a career and struggling not only with that difficult task, but also with finding a meal in general.

Miley is one of many celebrity chipping in to this important cause. Others telling the stories of real-life, poverty-stricken Americans included Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Taye Diggs and Ana Ortiz. Watch the PSA now:

American Idol Power Rankings: The Top 5

We are down to the final five.

With the elimination of Elise Testone this week, American Idol kicked off its home stretch on season 11, meaning this is an ideal time to line up the remaining contestants in a Power Poll and ask readers who they think will win.

5. Hollie Cavanaugh: She's made a living in the bottom three for weeks now. A perfectly strong voice, deserving of a place in the top five, but next Thursday night should be it for her. Lacks a personality or anything distinct to go with the vocals.

4. Joshua Ledet: We rank him fourth, but wouldn't object to him winning the whole thing. The talent is there, but, to many, so is some yelling and a bit of over-acting. But if you like theatrics, Ledet is your man.

3. Jessica Sanchez: Responsible for the single best performance of the season, her cover of Whitney's "I Will Always Love You." Has a lot of Pia Toscano in her. We mean that as a big compliment.

2. Phillip Phillips: He just can't win, people. Seriously, it would make like five straight handsome white guys who play guitars. The talent is there, the consistency is there, and we feel bad holding David Cook and Kris Allen against Phillip. But we need a change.

1. Skylar Laine: And let's hope Laine benefits from that change. She's fun, she's eccentric, she has her own sound. Her cover of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" is what American Idol is all about.
