Jim Thome set a major league record Saturday with his 13th career walkoff homer. Now he?s thinking about coming back for more.
?It showed me that I can still play,? Thome said in an interview with Scott Palmer on the Phillies pregame show, Behind the Pinstripes, Sunday afternoon. ?And to be honest, it really questions whether or not this will be my last year, to be dead honest.?
Getting a chance to DH in interleague games, Thome is hitting .317 with five homers and 15 RBI in 41 at-bats this month.
Thome?s homer Saturday against the Rays came after Jonathan Papelbon blew his first save of the season and reportedly earned him a $5,000 check from the Phillies closer. Papelbon said he made the offer to Thome while he was in the on-deck circle before his at-bat.
